Potpourri fixative?

Does anyone know of good sources of fixatives (cellulose fiber) for potpourri that are found in the field or garden, other than wood shavings? Going to try pine needles and corn stalk leaves, but I don't know if this will work.

I have found a solution to the potpourri fixative problem. Cotton fibers, dried bark or dried and shredded corn cobs are a great substitute for orris root. Nice for those wanting to make entirely homegrown potpourri or for those that have allergies.
