well, the chickens are laying again, so are the geese. I have been pricking a hole in the top and bottom of the shell whenever I need an egg, and blowing it out. wipe off with alcohol, then decorate, either by painting a design on it, gluing bits of paper, the possibilities are all over the place. to attach a string tie a string, ribbon etc. to a little piece of matchstick, push it into the top hole and voila, you can hang your pretty eggs on a branch of forsythia, willow, birch. If brought into the house about now the branches will soon leaf out and bloom (in the case of the forsythia). After winter drearies it cheers the heart to have a vase of blooming branches with bright eggs hanging from them. I am doing goose eggs this year. wish I had a dremel tool to do some cut outs.

Have a look at Harbor Freight, their $14.99 rotary tool is frequently on sale for $7-$9 dollars... that will pay the shipping if you dont have one near you. Don't forget dust protection if you take it up.

I just saw this post about decorating eggs.
I have been a egger for over 40 years. I don't know how many hundreds of them I have done. Everything from hinged jewelry boxes from small to large goose eggs to evening bags from Emu and Rhea eggs, Christmas tree decorations, picture frames, shadow boxes, etc, etc.
Lows has some pretty good prices for Dremel flex shaft saws now and then. The best I have is a vacuum driven saw that hooks up to a small 1 gal $25 shop vac. No EGG DUST! Yeaaaaaaaaa It's some what awkward to use but the rpm's are about 250,000 versus the 25,000-30,000 for the Dremel. No vibration means less broken eggs and finer cuts. The easiest to use is a air compressor driven flex shaft dental like drill. Very pricey.
The 33rd Annual EGG-Ibit International will be held on June 2&3 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Irving Texas.
My friend's mother started the company that originated the show.
She sold it a few years ago due to health problems.
The new name is The Eggery Place, 2531 Danny Lane, Dallas Texas, 75234. Kathy Lamb is the new owner. Her phone number is 972-241-4379.
I will see if I can find a net address for her. I used to get a catalog every year but haven't gotten one from the new owner this year.
There are about 100+ tables set up at the shows and sooooo much material for eggers it makes your head spin.
They have workshops and contest with some fabulous egg art that would blow your mind.
Hayes got a very simple Christmas egg from me in a gift swap.
Everyone ask "Where do you get your goose eggs from?". And being the smart A** I am I say "From Geese". ::)
I have been doing bussiness with Schiltz Goose Farms for about 35+ years. Only one time have I ever had a egg arive broken. They send another one , no questions asked. They even carry a few decorating supplies. www.schiltzfoods.com Toll free is 877-872-4458.
If anyone is interested I can dig through my other catalogs and post their address and what they supply.
