I need to recover the shade of a big floor lamp. My Dad turned the the lamp base, my brother made the form of the lampshade. I had it covered with some kind of parchment paper and dried plants. it looked really nice and I would like to do the same thing again pretty much. My problem, what kind of paper is there and what is it called, does anybody know? (what I used before, like 20 years ago) was given to me. It is somewhat transparent when the light is on and shows the pressed flowers that are glued on behind it, the paper is sort of yellowish, the kind diplomas, awards and certain documents seem to be printed on.

It sounds like Velum. It comes in different thicknesses and shades.

But some were made with rice paper or thin rawhide too.

Look at your local craft store.
