thought I would show how I use animal parts and make crafts from them.

I realize some may be offended by these, but for what it is worth, I eat what I hunt, and feel obligated not to waste what I hunt. Livers are often consumed, or saved for turtle/fish bait. Hearts are always saved for turtle/fish bait.

Wings, and feathers from quail, pheasant, crow as well as pigeon are saved and turned into crafts or sold legally to dog trainers. Squirrel and rabbit hides are tanned (squirrel) or insta cure (rabbit) and used for crafts.

Bones when usable are soaked in peroxide and painted and used in primative style jewelry.

Quail wings and tail, luan center board, crow beads, deer hide leather lace and quail fathers.

Lone wolf calling - wild rabbit fur, quail feathers, crow beads, deer hide leather lace, oil paint.

Bone bead necklace, domestic (consumed) chicken bones, crow beads, sinew.

Braegen, I don't find that offensive at all. That you eat what you hunt and use all you can is admirable, IMHO. Nothing turns my stomach quite like seeing a carcass in the woods with just its head removed for a trophy.

And those items look good. Nice work.

I just made a trip to Trinidad CO and on the way there saw a hugh porcipine dead beside the road. It looked like it was fairly fresh. It had the longest quills I have ever seen. I wish now I had stopped and harvested a bunch of quills. I don't use them but I am sure someone here could have made good use of them.

FYI; How to harvest quills. Take a old towel and pull it taunt. Push it down over the quills untill there are about 4-5 inches pushed through. Then pull up on the towel. The quills will be imbeded in the towel. Pull them the rest of the way through and let them dry well before you use them.

Cool on how to get the quills. I used to use a foam rubber piece to press down and then pull out the quills. This way you clean the quills when you get them. I will use your way. If I can find one dead.
