I noticed some of my vegetable plants had leaves tore off them this morning then when I was sitting resting I saw a black bird come down and tear the leaves off my zucchini. How do I stop them from ruining my plants?

You might try an aluminum pie pan tied from a string on a stake. The movement and reflection makes most birds nervous. Rubber snakes sometimes work. Just don't forget it and scare yourself. :D
There are a lot of other ways, too. I'm usually mad enough to shoot them.

I had the same problem earlier this month and I did the same thing OzarkMtnDaredevil suggested to you. Wouldn't you know it that a bird landed on the damn plate and just sat there( No breeze that day). If you have pesky birds you can take some lengths of old wire fence and cover your plants while they are growing mounding the fence over the plant. It worked for me anyhow. Good luck!
