I have heard there are some plants that do good in the next row to some things but there is also plants that harm each other.
Anyone know where I can find a list likeable and unlikeable plants.
Thanks ahead

It's called companion planting. There's a lot of information out there on the subject. Here's a starter list:

Don't forget Mike Mc Groarty! I love this guy. He has a lot of great gardening info and free downloads. You can sign up for quick gardening tips, too. He sells books on how to make money from your produce:

The Victory Garden book is also wonderful.

I don't mean to jump your thread dennis, but it seems like this might help you too. Can anyone tell me what it is about these plants that harms other plants?
I have onions comeing up already and have planted two rows of beans beside them. I didn't know until I read the site posted.
I have a lot of bean seeds and just tried to get a jump start if the weather stays warm but now i wonder if i should just plow them under and plant the cabbage there?

I do not have a link to the web site, but there are some out there that tell you why some plants do/don't grow well together.
Here is an example;
I read that you should not grow tomatos near corn, but the reason was that they both are eaten by the same worms. They will grow well beside each other, you just are attracting the same insect predator.

Everything I have read so far says keep beans away from onions. I have a 65' row of onions planted and two rows of beans right beside them. Should I till the beens in and plant cabbage and lettuce or will the two just not do quite so good.
I don't want to waste the 3 rows if they aren't going to do squat.

Fennel is a plant to keep away from a lot of vegetables. I don't know why, but it is supposed to be really bad.
I planted mine near the strawberries and broccoli last year and it was okay.
Basil and tomatoes are good together.

Crafty, have you found out anything about how far the plants should be seperated where they say not to plant together? Nothing I have found so far gives a distance. I tilled the beans back in and planted lettuce but how far away do I need to plant the beans. If you have found a site for the distance please let me know.
