Have been knitting again: but I cooked up some Wild Rice for the first time ever. took one look at the pot and tried out the liquid as a dye: treated cotton thread with Alum, then tried it out with plain, iron, and copper: I get slightly different results with differing amounts of wild rice in the pot, but they are all beautiful: mauve [yes, mauve] through to blues. TRY it!

The thicker thread on the right is a pale blue. The other is a shot of knitted work from the sample above.
