Has anyone here attempted to make one?

I'm getting ready to start one,and have just finished cutting all the strips, now I need to cut the strips into blocks and get going on it.

You're supposed to start with as much variety in fabric paterns as you can.....I've got 100+ different prints cut.I think that's a good variety. :)

Hi leera, I don't have any advice for you. But i am curious as to what a landscape quilt is? :)

A landscape quilt is supposed to look like a scene when you get it done.....

You're supposed to blend the colors in a way to match whatever scene you're going for.......from a distance it looks like a picturesque(sp)scene, but looking up close you can see all the different patterns of fabric used.

It sounds challenging to me and I think I can do it..... :)

Is this the same thing as a 'watercolor' quilt, where all the squares are cut very small, maybe 2" square?

I think they are one and the same...the blocks I'm cutting are 2 1/4 by 2 1/4.........

wow, that sounds very intricate. I have never seen a quilt done that way but I have seen different kinds of art work like that. I bet it will be just beautiful when you are finished. I would love to see pics of your progress/ finished quilt :)

leera, years ago, I worked on one, and on the wall I tacked up a very large piece of batting. Since the fabric would adhere to it, this allowed me to place the squares of fabric in different positions to see how they blended together. This way, I could move them around until I was satisfied with where they should go. Obviously, the wall hanging for this purpose shouldn't be on a wall near an outside door that opens/closes on a regular basis. ;)

When you get some of it put together, we would love to see a picture. I bet it will be lovely. :)

I'm using a cork board and straight pins. :)

I will happily post pics as I go along......not much to look at right now though.....

Well, how's the quilt, Leera? *:)

I've seen pictures of pixel-style quilts but, haven't tried one yet...this is one of several wall-hanging, landscape quilts I've made. Lot's of fun.
