potatoes in straw

i planted my potatoes today, after i planted them i covered them with straw, after they come up do i keep adding straw or do i put a layer of dirt and then more straw, i have heard of growing them in straw, but just not sure how it works- any help would be great- sherry

Hey sher,

I'm doing the same thing, but using peat moss, instead of straw and I planted mine in a tire. As I understand it, once the plant gets high enough, you just keep adding straw, covering most of the plant as you go. Then when it is time to dig them up, you have big potatos on the bottom and smaller ones up top.
