Here is a section of my garden that I am making a more permanent setup. * The far corner has leeks that I planted last spring and have been mulching. *Next to them are onions and garlic that I planted last fall. *Also in here next to the leeks are 4 rhubarb plants and a seedling aronia berry bush. *Next to the onions I plan on putting the more permanent herbs like lemon balm, rosemary, sage and such. *The straw bale garden was from last fall. *I plan on simply cutting the strings and planting more herbs and permanent plantings in the mulch and compost it creates. *In the foreground is a cover cropped area. *I am thinking of planting the next round of leeks and onions in this area this year. * Things are finally getting organized so that it keeps getting eaiser to keep up with it all!

April in my garden is wet. I was almost ready to plant, or at least it was dry enough for me to plant, and of course it rained again. Since it is low here and I have clay soil it takes forever to dry enough to plant. We are due to get more rain friday and saturday. It is usually late when I get to plant my garden but I have my plants started. I did get my strawberries planted early last month and they have bloomed and I took off all the blooms this year. I also manage to plant a 12' raised bed with sweet corn just to see if I can make corn in a raised bed.
