What are some of the weirdest animals you have seen or heard about, being kept on homesteads? The only things around here, that are a little odd, are Lamas. Seems like a lot of people have them, but I don't know why. I have also seen a farmer keep wild bore and cross bread them with his farm pigs.
I just thought it would be interesting to hear of what is out there and why they keep them.

Now those look like they would be a cool addition. Do you keep them penned up or just let them run around the place?

Is there a reason you have them, or are the just for looks? How do they taste? *;D

They are just pretty. I use the feathers in crafts and as gifts but now I have a huge pile of feathers in the garage so hardly need more! They free range, often that is a pain because they eat the garden. It's Jake's job to keep them out of the gardens. They also really liked being out of the rain on the deck all the time - huge piles of peacock poop! Jake has fixed that also. ;-)

They are nosy(and noisy), and love attention.

I have two males and a female now, but at one point had 18!!!! So I did have roast peacock - it's delicious! ;D
