I have always cut my potatoes right before putting them in the ground. (We plant in a tractor-made trench) I have been reading and a lot of places say to cut the potato a day ahead to allow the tater to heal before going in the ground. I was wondering if anyone cuts ahead of time and if it made any difference in production?

I try to cut a day or two in time so the cut can dry off. But I have planted fresh cut spuds with no ill effect as far as I could see. It will be a few days yet, acording to my calender April 8 is a good tater planting day. Also a good day to set fence posts.
