Very nice! *My Grandmother loved to crochet - but refused to teach me more than the basics - Crocheting was her mental time away from the family. *I have since learned how and taught myself how to read patterns in her honor.

I am sorry Grandma is ailing - but I am sure she enjoyed the time with you.
And yup - my grandma would yell also - she needed that time!

Gooddaughter,
I learned how to knit and crochet when I was pregnant with my first baby. A dear friend taught me how to knit and then I started on a baby sweater.
My hubby's aunt taught me how to crochet, but just the chain st and the single crochet, I went out and bought a book and taught myself the rest.
I taught my daughter when she was a little girl and then I taught my Brownie troop that she was in how to crochet.
I now have my granddaughter knitting and crocheting. :)
I think you would like rug yarn for making a rug, it is a thicker yarn and it holds up well.
