Well if you've ever asked about freezing seeds before this morning's newscast should put you at ease.
They have just opened a "world seed bank" that will allow countries to deposit seeds for safe keeping in case the end of the world should happen. that way there will be seeds left for the next generation to continue to exist. The freezer will maintain the seeds at below zero temps and is hardened to provide safety from earthquakes and can survive a direct nuclear blast.
