This was on my wish list for this year.
What you all might know if you are buying it or other stuff is that Amazon has amazingly lower prices than the same things in other catalogs - and if you are not in Washington I think you even skip the sales tax.
Most places have the seeder somewhere around 100 dollars but Amazon had it for 69.95. They had a link to another garden site that had the same seeder for 71.95 with no sales tax plus that site had the extra seed plates I wanted and Amazon did not have those.
Anyhow - lesson learned is before I buy I will just do a search on Amazon first to see if I can get the same thing cheaper there!
I also got the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle plus those books by Muriel Orans that I helped type up many years ago working my way through college. ;-) One thing about Amazon - you can get lost in "you might also be interested in" limbo. ;-) They probably wonder what kind of weirdo orders mostly garden/homestead and Oracle books. ;-)

On the earth way seeder a small note. I used mine in the ozark mtns ground.rough lots of rocks till soil built up some. had some trouble with seeder staying on ground and distribution being right. Found if I played a little with extra weight towards back got around it alright...just in case your on rougher ground
Do you have a link to a pict. of that seeder?

Deberosa,
I ordered one a few years ago at a place called Flemings Outdoors for 69.00. *They also sell hatchery and trapping items so i saved on postage.
I only used it for beans, it works good for them it spaces them and covers and you're done in no time with out a bunch of bending over. *It makes more sense if you plant longer rows. *I think you'll like it.

Debrosa, i just looked at your link. They have a lot of replacement and accessory parts for the seeder. That might come in handy. Thanks!

I was amazed at the price too. Do you know how much seed the hopper has to have in it to work? Do I need to buy seed in batches of several ounces? Like say for carrots and such. I plant alot of beans - 150 ft of row last year and will do the same or more this year in stages. I would plant more carrots if they weren't such a pain to thin and get right! This I am hoping is a solution to that. ;-)

It doesn't take much seed to make it work, but it never picks up all the seed that's in the hopper. I tilt it to the right when the hopper is low to remove most of the seed.

Thanks Deb...
The reason i asked for a link, was because i was having a brain fart and couldn't remember the brand that mine is... It's the same as the one in the link...
I happened to walk into a Farm & Fleet store some years ago, and they had them with the fert hopper on sale for $69.95 and there was a sign on the same rack that said 50% off...
One of the store personal walked up and was clearing the shelf, when i asked if that sign included the seeders... He said "no"...and i said "too bad, i was going to buy one"... Then said, "just a minute", and he marked it down 50% more and i bought it immediately!
I use it to plant sweet corn, and it works quite well, makeing the job much faster and easier... I don't use chem fert., so the fert hopper doesn't get used, maybe some day though?
When i plant my corn with it, i run down the row twice with it, as my ground can stand that much seed population... All that TP i add makes it happen!

It's one of the few times in my life when i was in the "right" place at the "right" time... :D
My brother is the one who finds everything cheeeep...not me..
