grasshopper invasion...

Here in the Pac. Northwest, our garden has been invaded with what seems like millions of grasshoppers.
They have just devoured overnight, many of our veggies. Anyone out there have any great, non toxic solutions to this buggy problem?

I am on the Olympic Peninsula and have no grasshoppers here. Haven't seen a one... But I also have 4 guineas and 3 peacocks free ranging the property. The guineas are especially good at managing insects, they move around the place in circles, stopping by the small pool I have in the front yard several times a day. I don't have carpenter ants either!

Right now the hen is on a nest just behind my back gate and the males are standing guard so for the past week they have not been making their rounds. I hope the grasshoppers don't move in!
