My mom got her first on Jul 9 and i've been getting a few. *I tried to get real early and planted Siberian. *I didn't actually think they were that fast though. *For next year, i'd like to find a real good early tomato that also tastes good.

I have nice big green tomatoes in the hoop house - hopefully in a week or so I'll be enjoying tomatoes.

I have no idea what variety my husband planted while I was gone visiting my folks, (the ones I started in the greenhouse died during the big Easter freeze), but lo and behold, I picked the first two ripe ones on the fourth of July. yesterday I gave a bag full away to the neighbors.

We have been getting ripe tomatoes since the first week in July, and faster than we can eat them. Soon I will need to can a few I think. We have a hard time making it through the winter with only those.....uh...store bought tomatoes, so we have been really enjoying these nice fresh ones. We haven't got any large red tomatoes yet, only Lemon Boy, so the red must be a later one. Funny thing.... the little yellow pear tomato vine is NOT making little yellow pear tomatoes, but rather red cherry tomatoes. I am wondering if they cross polinate or something. Oh well, we like the red better anyway.

Blessings,
Judy

Here in hot, humid Alabama tomatoes are usually done by the end of July. I have canned a lot and eaten a lot since about the second week in June. The plants look awful now and what tomatoes are on them are pretty much rotting. I will be pulling out the old plants if it ever stops raining so I can. I know we have been in a drought but believe me, my immediate area has had a lot of rain. I can't even mow my grass or work in the garden. I am going to start seed for the fall crop this week though. I will be planting an early variety so they will have time to make before it gets too cold which will be about the first of November. I have Sophie's Choice and Zarnitza from southern exposure seed exchange. I have never planted either kind but thought I would give them a try because they are just 50 or 60 some odd days to harvest .

Still waiting for my first ripe tomato, I'll have to be quicker than the chickens to get it! Fencing the garden today tho ;).
It's been SOOOOOO dry here that only the tomatoes, cukes, peppers and beans are getting any watering. Every thing else has dried up. :(

I have beautiful plants and lots of flowers, today my husband saw the first green tomato.....so happy, haven't seen any bees since early spring. Were in central Wa State. I always freeze alot of tomatoes mixed with onion and green peppers for winter.

I have green ones on the plants but not many. We have so many 100 degree plus days that they won't set fruit in that heat. I am busy building a shade to cover them with.

My Corazons have yielded, as well as the Grape tomatoes. The Corazons haven't yielded a lot of fruit, but some really big ones exceeding a pound each. The first one wasn't very flavorful and I got really worried since this was the first time I'd tried this hybrid, but the later ones turned out really well. It's got a rich, dark meat to it that's full of tomato taste. The grape tomatoes are excellent as well and really fruiting up. We've been getting one or two ripe ones every day but not enough to really do much else with besides pop them in the mouth while standing in the garden. Is there any better way to enjoy one of those?

My Brandywines and Better Boys are really covered with green fruit, but none have turned yet. They seem to be right on schedule with the cucumbers and we'll be eating those in about another week or two. I didn't plan correctly and my succession planting has turned out badly. Not that I'm not getting fruit, but it seems like 80% of the garden harvest is going to hit in the same 3 week period. I'd much rather have it stagger out over the whole season but I still haven't gotten the Texas-Illinois weather transition down right.

Here in TN, I have a lot of green ones and some small ripe ones.

I can't wait until the big ones ripen.
