Do any of you know of a pattern source for long leg panties? I can't seem to find one and want to make some for wearing under skirts and dresses. I don't wear pantihose and a girdle is not what I am looking for. All help is appreciated. I'm tired of looking this morning. I have dial-up and it is slow.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but trywww.lydiaofpurple.com
Yes I know they don't actually sell patterns but if the pictures are what you are looking for then try googling Bloomers, pantaloons, etc and you may find patterns.

Thanks Annabella. I tryed the google thing and found that website and others. I can find a bloomer pattern but that is not what I want but may have to use and just adjust it to what I want.

I cut off a pair of thermal long-john bottoms and hemed them just below the knee and inserted some elastic to keep them in place. They do a great job warding off the cold when wearing dresses. I've attend several events that were extremely cold and was thankful for my resourcefulness. -Karen

Faye,
I think a close-fitting slacks pattern (pull on, not zippered) would work just fine. It's more the choice of materials that will determine the end result. Look for patterns in the knits part of the pattern book - they're designed for the give of the knit.

We cut our long johns off at the knee and sew a zig-zag stch around the cut edge. I have a frien who does this but addselastic and a little cotton lace along the bottom.
These keep us very warm when we are out in our dresses. We have been wearing mostly long dresses these day, wanting to be more feminine. SO these knee lenght underware are great for keeping us warm.

As for a pattern , If I find one I will let you know.

So I bought a pattern for boxer shorts because the commercially available ones are total garbage.
Someone needs to help me decipher this thing!

What pattern did you get. I used to make Tom, my dh, boxers. So if you can give me a hint on where you are having trouble, and/or what you have done, I may can give you a hand.

I made my 4 grandsons and 3 granddaughters(they like to sleep and lounge in them) boxers last year for Christmas. Should have made some this year but have procrastinated till it is too late.

My dresses are mostly midcalf or longer. If I'm wearing knee socks, I just wear regular long underware and pull the knee socks over it. This keeps the underware down and the socks up and me warm. I like the idea of cutting off and hemming and think I'll give that a try.

I second this too!

I chopped off some old Cuddl Duds and make bloomers. They kept me warm at winter and cool at summer. Also they stop chafing and the nylon makes static not so bad.

I was going to suggest just buying a bermuda short pattern in the casual separates' section of pattern book, and using batiste cotton for summer. I like the idea of cutting off the thermal wear, too, in the winter or just pulling up sock tops to cover. Good idea! :)

I use to sew undergarments for people with the latex allergy problem,(I'm one of them), and I found KwikSew patterns ran pretty close in size to what you would normally buy in a store. *

Alchemy Acres, I use to sew these garments for men also, I made boxer and jockey shorts. ;D *I used a lightweight cotton knit material for these.
