I have just joined this forum and wanted to know if anyone was a weaver. I weave and really love it. I do all the other things too(knit, sew, quilt, crochet, etc) thanks to my great grandmother. Weaving is really quite easy to learn and I have made some really interesting things.

I am not currently doing any weaving, but I have in the past. Your post reminded me about tatting. That is something my grandma taught me and you don't see done much any more.

I have never tried weaving but I am interested in it. Aren't the looms really expensive?

Looms come in all sizes and price ranges. It all depends on what kind of weaving you want to do.
If you are a "handy person" or have access to one ;D you can make an inkle or a triloom your self for not much money. Also, a backstrap loom is as simple as sticks and string. On the larger, more complex looms, if you keep your eyes open and wait, you can find them fairly cheap.

When I do school demo's on weaving I just use pieces of cardboard. Lots of options, and lots of creativity.
