This might not be exactly the right place to post this, but it's as close as I could find! ;)
I kept seeing ads for vacuum sealed bags on TV, but didn't want to spend the $$. So I got a box of trash compactor bags and a roll of duct tape and they work fine!
I put in the blankets, winter clothing, fabric, pillows, anything soft and fluffy that I need to store - - and mash it down as much as I can before folding over the opening and taping most of it shut. Then, in goes the vacuum cleaner hose end and I suck it flat, pull out the hose and quickly tape the rest of it. It's AMAZING how flat these bags can get!
One thing I learned early on was to do this on a flat surface - bumps, bends and lumps will be permanent!
Another line of tape for safety, and I store them in shallow tubs under the bed.
Anybody else try this?
This spring when the winter duds go into storage, I'm going to slip a drier sheet in to scent them a little, too. I can't WAIT for it to warm enough to put my heavy stuff away! ;D
