Does anyone know what you have to do to get tomatoe seeds registered so you can sell them?

A lot. It costs about $300 to go through university trials.
Are they organic? If so I know some organic people that may buy them and market through their business.

How would I go through the university and which university. I do not think they would pass as organic sence I live in town and run off from neighbors. I do not want to sell the rights to them my Father-in-law took 15 years to come up with them. I want to keep them for my kids.

You can sell them now. BUT if you go to the USDA site and track down the info, you can find what you need to do to sell them legally in other states, or internationally.
Is what you have an "heirloom" seed your relative has saved? Depending on where the seed originated back 15 yrs ago when he started with them, it might already be "owned" by someone.

Ohio State University has a huge ag college.
Most seed distributors around here go through them.
I am not well versed in the process. But what I have heard is something like this.
They do a field trial. Over a growing season.
Determine its a new seed strain or at least a unique one. Certify that and what you pay for is the certification.
lots of places online with little e stores where people sale seeds.
I'd surf the net before I paid Ohio state and do all the research you can.
Ohio state is probably a good place to start that research.

Hey Independant; It would help to know if they are Open Pollinated,First Filial Hybrid or Standard Hybrid?
Also is there PVP on any of the Parent lines?
Also All Heirlooms are Public Domain and Nobody owns them.
Unless some Big Business has paid the $10,000.00 to get a PVP cetificate but this is only for recent introductions not heirlooms.-
