fertlizing my potatos and onions

Hello,

I planted a super small 8'x8' garden last month. In it I planted some potatos and yellow and white onion bulbs and They are all doing well. My wife has a pet rabbit and I have been saving the cage clean-ups. I now have 1/2 half of a 5 gallon bucket full along with pine shavings. Can I use this for fertilizer? If so please let me know how I should apply it.

Seems to me I heard rabbit droppings are cool enough to apply without composting. Are you mulching the potatoes? Either broadcast and cover with mulch, or side-dress the rows/hills.
