My sweet sister-in-law is really into knitting and is moving towards carding and spinning her own yarns. I happened across a smallish antique spinning wheel today at a thrift shop, and am considering buying and refinishing it for a Christmas gift for her. I don't have any experience spinning, so don't have much sense what I should be looking for other than all the parts fitting well and moving smoothly.
Can anyone give me a bit of advice as to what I should be looking for in a functional spinning wheel?
Thanks.
