Been mulching the vegetables with a layer or 2 of newspaper under about 6 inches of grass clippings. the newspaper does wonders for weed control.

what about brown non-glossy corrugated cardboard? is the glue safe? seems like it would not break down as fast as the newspaper (which just gets tilled under with the grass mulch)

if it aint broke don't fix it: the newspaper works, so there's no need to change, but was just curious if anyone has used cardboard...

Have used it for mulch. i also soak small boxes in a tub of water and then tear them in pieces for the compost pile.

Cardboard is very useful. We keep all our boxes, big pieces of cardboard are great for putting on the ground to walk on or to lay down under a vehicle that's being worked on. If you're painting, use it to protect the floor, it's easier to move than a drop cloth. Put big pieces under where you're skinning a deer. Good stuff, cardboard.

cardboard works great. I ask at Lowe's, they have those huge boxes that appliances come in.
