Occasionally I read a post and wonder where the person is from.
I have found a lot of people don't list their location.
Is there a reason for that?
I don't mean anything specific, just a general location.
Like mine the dry side of Washington.
I know some of us don't want any more information available than there already is but a general location doesn't seem like to much.
Just Google your user name and see what is already available.
Rant over thanks. :D

I just looked at my profile and my location is there, but it doesn't show on my posts. Central NY, by the way.

Thanks Woodzman
I always look at the profile but most times I seem to come up empty.

Thanks for the reminder. I usually always post something on my profile on any board I participate in. I also like the signature space so it is right there.

My tagline says Michigan. That's close enough; I value my privacy.

You are right.
That's close enough.
Just some idea of where the poster is in this wide wide world.
Thanks

I probably should put something in the tagline, too. It would be a help-particularly in the gardening forum. Doesn't help to know what's being planted when I can't determine where. ::)

At least the state helps I think. I put both state and city but for some I can see just the state. By just the state one isnt really losing any privacy and when posting about planting or a snow storm--well, others can relate.

AND if it fits--your planet if not from ours--LOL!

What does "bump" mean? I have never seen that used on a forum. It has a rude sound to it.

It is used to keep a topic current and on the top of the message board.
Not rude at all.

It isn't necessarily rude to "bump" a topic if done appropriately. The word "bump" is common across most forums. Among most forums, it is considered bad etiquette to bump a thread for no reason and just to keep your thread at the top. However on most forums, for example, if an OP (original poster) starts a thread asking a question and after a reasonable time, no one answers, it can be bumped. However, some forums frown on any bumps. In the case here, many threads were bumped to get threads higher up the board when we recently had trouble with some postings.
