As you may be aware, we in Florida have had many days of non-stop rain. Our blackberries are currently bearing and couldn't be picked due to the weather. Many went past the point of no-return and couldn't be salvaged. When the weather did finally clear up enough to pick, we found the plants and ground around them literally covered with ground-bound yellowjacket wasps. Seemed a bit strange, but we started picking anyway. It didn't take long to realize that the reason for all of the grounded wasps was the state of the over-ripe berries. They had started to ferment and the wasps had gotten completely stoned on them. All they could do was lay on their back and buzz their wings. If any of them perished in their helpless state, I guarantee that they died happy.
