Anyone use these? You know the type you put in water to expand then just poke in the seed. When it is time you just plant the whole thing.

I have some that were given to me, but have not used them. Just curious if they work well for the plant.

Yeah, they work. If you have them, use them. The entire thing is surrounded by a fine nylon mesh. It tears pretty easily, but you will find them blowing around in your garden. We usually try to rip them off, but often the roots have grown through the mesh. I don't know that it causes problems for the plant later on. You will need to keep an eye on them while they are in your starter tray before they get planted in the garden - they run through water at a pretty brisk rate - evaporation I guess. We usually set them up on a cookie pan or some other flat container and just por water in the pan - the peat pots wick up the water.

They work okay and make for cramming a lot of starts into a small space. We don't buy them any more - just use a sack of soil and any container we can find. Also found a thing that makes soil blocks - kind of like a peat pot after the water is added.

We didn't use thes folks - found a better price somewhere elase, but this tells a little about them.
