hi! i am new here.love this site.
i was wondering if anyone knows how i can get my prickly pear plant to grow bigger and fast?
i have no clue what to do for it.it just sits there yr after yr...looking like it has not grown one bit.
i know i can use it in casseroles and all kinds of stuff.thanks for any info.we live in a rainy area...but the people down the road have big plants. :'(

Sandy.thanks so much. i guess i know u all know alot and i have the backwoods home anthologys...i guess u or someone must have experience or answers on some of these subjects.sorry-i could of looked this up myself.right/ok...i was thinking maybe someone had cooked it or used it.i never have but would like to.why.cause it is there and i never have used it.I thank u so much for looking this subject up.now to study and read and save the links u posted on this subject.rae-dean ;)

Your plant is probably in too much rich dirt. Prickly pear need sandy soil with very good drainage. Too much water will drown it.
