6'2" and 325 pounds. Anybody know where I can find BIG man patterns that go beyond a 42" waist and a 48 inch chest?
I typically wear a 48 x 32 blue jean and a 3XLT shirt.

LeatherneckPA -
The very best patterns I've had were made from old clothing that fit - or nearly fit. Even with a paper pattern, when it turns out something good, I make a muslin cloth pattern from it, and mark the pieces with a laundry marker. If you have an old shirt or pants that fit - the older the better, since it will be easier to gently take apart, remove the stitching and mark each piece as you take them apart. If it's too short or snug, this is the time to add an extension and tack it on with iron on tape.
If you are going by body measurements, don't forget that you need at least two inches of "ease" - the finished piece needs to measure that much bigger than you do, so that it doesn't pull or bind. You might appreciate even more than that across the shoulders.
To find large size patterns, try - they go up to a 60 " chest!

I just googled "Sewing for men" and found these two.
Hope this helps!

I know this posting is old, but I'll reply anyway, in case someone else has the same question. The big pattern companies--McCall's, Simplicity, and Butterick do tend to have a few patterns that go up to at least a size 52 mens--but their selection of patterns for men's clothes in general is bad, to say the least. Kwik Sew has more big guys' patterns--and more guys' patterns in general. They also have much better quality patterns (printed on paper, not tissue) and much better directions. Jalie patterns often run the full gamut, from a little boys' 2T to a big guys' size in one pattern. Both Kwik Sew and Jalie also beat out the big companies by offering patterns for the stuff you'll make over and over--basic clothes. Underwear, long johns, fishing vests, T-shirts--everyday stuff. My DH is a big guy & he gets a lot of homemade clothes, 'cause I think it's less of a pain to sew than to shop.

I had good success once calling the customer service at kwik sew. They helped alter a pattern so I could make sleeping shorts out of sweat pants. The shorts turned out great!
