Folks,

have a brand-new Presto that took to local ag center for checking the gauge and was advised to replace as it is 1.5 pounds low at 12 psi. I called Presto and they are sending a new gauge but stated that as long as it was 1-2 pounds, it was still good.

?? - could you still use the old gauge (never been used) and just set your temp to reach 13.5 psi?? noobie to canning also.

No, I would not use it since it has a low reading, meaning you would be under processing the food. Just raising the pressure is not your answer.
