As a kid I remember the canners that were used had the "jigglers" rather than the guages that are used and being sold today, which do you prefer and can you still purchase the jiggler canners? Or is this just an outdated way of canning. Thanks

I definitely prefer the guage - have both types, and by far I'm more comfortable with the guage type. You can see at a glance where the pressure is at, no worries that is is falling to low.
I also like the canners that don't have a rubber gasket, like the American brand, they tend to be heavier cast too.
