I want to do a lot more canning this year (plan on expanding to dehydration and vacuum packing next year). However, canning lids (not the rings, just the lids) are soooo expensive here on the coast and I don't get out of town much. Does anyone know of a supplier on-line for these? I looked, but couldn't find much. Thanks!

I asked the same question here a few months ago. The best advice I came across was to check out Big Lots. There were no canning lids at the one near me in Idaho, but my daughter was flying out from Houston in last month and she checked at one of the Big Lots there. She came in with 60 dozen boxes on the plane. They were only .99 per box. That was the best bargain I had seen for awhile. They were the standard size, I'm still looking for the wide mouth lids. You may want to check with Alison's Pantry, www.alisonspantry.com. They occasionally have canning supplies.

Good luck with that. Others have said to check out WalMart at the end of the season....which doesn't help this year.

I was so glad my hubby purchased a case of each, regular and wide mouth lids at Walmart about 2 wks ago. The regular were 1.41 per dozen and I think about 1.96 per dozen for wide mouth. A case of each. He also got 3 dozen reg. jars for me. I am guessing they are gonna be quite expensive this year so we just sucked it up and bought them. Hope you all can find them cheaper, but at least I know I have them ready here.

The Big Lot here just got the lids(regular size) in......I bought a bunch on my way to work yesterday.

I've gotten nearly all of my jars free or cheap, and have plenty. But finding a good deal on lids is hard to come by.
