hi dreaming,
I have never pickled turnips, like you do cucumbers, but my mother every year ferments them like sour kraut. They have to be chopped into little pieces, then proceed like with kraut, add chopped onion and caraway seed to it. this can be eaten raw as/with a salad, and it is not bad. or it can be cooked like kraut and then it is very good with a hunk of bacon or hambone. Hope this helps. My turnips are nothing this fall, it was too hot and dry to plant on time. I have nice turnip greens, nothing on the bottom yet.
