Anyone heard of a recipe for pickling eggs without shelling or peeling them?. ie the brine softens the shell enough to eat the whole thing.

Quail eggs are sometimes prepared that way because they're so small and difficult to peel.
The hard boiled eggs are soaked in full strength vinegar for 10-12 hours until the shell dissolves leaving the membrane which is easily removed.
The 'peeled' eggs are then placed in a pickling solution.
