Lead shot and canning meat

I've been hunting a lot of squirrels lately, and we've been wanting to can it.

But the thought occurs, is it okay to can meat with lead shot in it? Will the lead leach into the food and poison us?

Yes! Not only YES, but hell yes.

You really need to make sure all the shot is cleaned out of any game you can or freeze.
