I never had lamb before, but I figured if I was going to start raising some lamb and selling the meat, I better start learning to like it. Of course before you can learn to like it, you have to try it.
I never ate lamb before, nor do I cook. But I downloaded this quick easy grilling instructions for Lamb Ribs and I'll be darned if it was not good. My Grandmother LOVED it, and she claimed she hated lamb.
Funny how people like something when they think it is something else (she assumed it was beef ribs). Anyway if you have never tried lamb I would highly recommend it, at least with this recipe.
For the record too, the lamb I bought was called Lamb Country Style Ribs and was bone-in at a cost of 3.99 a pound. With 6 ribs in the package it came to $5.02. I served it with macronni salad and a side salad.
Grilled Lamb with Brown Sugar Glaze
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons dried tarragon
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 lamb chops
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, mix brown sugar, ginger, tarragon, cinnamon, pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Rub lamb chops with the seasonings, and place on a plate. Cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Preheat grill for high heat.
Brush grill grate lightly with oil, and arrange lamb chops on grill. Cook 5 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness.

Dumb question but this is for adult sheep and not baby sheep right? I've never eaten sheep before and it looks good! Thanks for posting!

MMMmmmm my favorite (and here in the uk the most expensive meat)
Baby sheep (up to 6 months old) called lamb here.
Older sheep and pretty rare here now we know as mutton.
The perfect meat for slow long cooking in a crock pot or hay box.
My favorite, most lip smacking, greasy and heart attack provoking, simple recipe.
take one big cooking pot suitable for the oven.
Ingredients Breast of lamb or ribs of lamb (the cheapest cut here) Potato's and onions.
slice the potatos into slivers, chop the onion into thinish slices.
put a layer of potato & a sprinkling of onion over and over until 2 inches from the top. Pack the lamb ribs on top and roast in a medium heat oven.
turn the lamb on top occasionally until brown and golden.
Massive calorie meal and superb yorkshire comfort food.
Best wishes,
Oh dear I am slavering :P

Its a bit different here. There is no 'sheep meat" per se, rather its either Lamb (young sheep) or Mutton (older sheep).
Lamb is legally anywhere from 0-14 months of age. Mutton is 14 months plus.
The lines get can of blurred because hair sheep (like Katadins) can be older then 14 months but still taste like lamb, but legally it has to be sold as Mutton.
As for the Lamb Ribs I cooked, my unsuspecting Grandmother later explained "That was the best ribs I have ever tasted." Myself I thought they were pretty tasty and I look forward to trying some other cuts and recipes. Still to give this some perspective....
Lamb Ribs, macronni salad and salad greens...12 bucks
Making your 84 yr old grandmother's day by cooking her supper and later hearing her claim it was the best tasting ribs ever...
PRICELESS!

Drawbar you should try leg of lamb, boneless. Hubby and I purchased and fixed one for Passover and it was good. I dont like beef, rather have a bologna sandwich than a steak any time, so I slathered the leg of lamb in brown mustard, with salt, pepper and garlic powder and put it on a rack in a roasting pan at about 350 degrees till the meat thermometer said 145 and it was awesome. So simple and tasty. Of course it was store bought boneless and encased in one of those net things. Sliced thin made good sandwiches too.

Try lamb shanks in the crock pot on a cold day. Aside from making the house smell great they are real comfort food. Paired with mashed potatoes and sauted spinach - can't be beat!!
