I think I saw a recipe recently here for making essene bread and or wheat sprout bread but I can't find it now. Do you have any recipes or suggestions for using wheat sprouts up pretty quickly before they go bad?
I accidentally made up more than I intended to.... I ended up with 3 quarts of sprouts. I like them just out of hand, and I use them on sandwiches (but I don't eat that many sandwiches) and in salads. I also top all my cooked veggies with them. and they are great on a peanut butter sandwich. But mostly I like to cook them in a thermos over night and blender them for breakfast cereal with a dab of butter and salt. The thing is, I am not using them up fast enough, and don't know just how long they will keep fresh in the frig. I want to make some bread with them. Any ideas or recipes?

Blessings,
Judy

This is probably too late to help you now. But I put excess wheat sprouts in just about anything. you already said my favorite which is for breakfast. But I also put them on sandwiches, in salads, as filler in meatloaf. Stirfry them in a little butter and olive oil and they make a delish side dish. As far as bread goes most recipes you can substitute up to a cup of the flour with the sprouts without causing any major damage.

Hi Anna,

Thanks for the tips, some of which I hadn't even thought of, as the stir fry sprouts. I bet that is good. I did manage to use them all up in good time, as I like them on most everything we serve.

I did also find several recipes for using sprouts on I think it is called Sproutpeople..com. Got a GREAT bread recipe that I used the last 2 cups of my sprouts in. It turned out better than any bread I have ever made, especially with wheat flour. I accidentally put more salt in than the recipe called for, but it was actually better iin our opinion, as we tend to like the salty things. I didn't grind the sprouts, you have an option, and it made two loaves. They were wonderful. Thanks for your input.

Blessings,
Judy

It may sound weird, but I make a peanut butter alfalfa sprout and jack cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread that is really good. I got the idea years ago from a dirt bike magazine and have them a couple of times a week.
