We can only buy canned Great Northern white beans here but I found I can use them in place of other beans without a hitch.
I like making Italian bean patties (If you want the recipe I can post it), bean vege soup, baked beans with sausage, cornpone, and bean burrito thingies.
What are your favorite bean recipes?

Ham and bean soup!
Boil down any hambone and leftover ham
Add salt and pepper as needed
Thicken with cornstarch
Add beans
Freezes well
(I'll fry some bacon, crumble and add as well if I have it on hand)

I cook beans only in winter when I have the woodstove going. sorry, I don't have a set recipe. I have added all kinds of things to beans with good results. I do like a bay leaf in with my beans, I also like a little rue to thicken the whole thing and for flavor. I learned that from a yugoslavien man. I like a couple of potatoes in with my bean soup, or a handful steelcut oats or barley, also a spoonful of salted soup greens, which is nothing but a lot of parsley, some lovage, shredded carrots, chopped chives and salt pressed into a jar. Heavy on the salt. The parsley will taste just like fresh.

Beans are good almost anyway you cook them. My favorite is to use pinto beans, in a good chilli. Just be sure to add a heaping tablespoon of cocoa, (not chocolate) to the chilli, stirred in just before finished cooking. The cocoa really enhances the flavor.

Thanks for the recipes! :)
The bean patties are very good. I just used canned beans rinsed and mashed them with a spoon. I also used Ritz-style crackers instead of saltines.

Sure! :)
I found this recipe and it is GOOD. I replaced the ground chuck with hotdogs and skipped on the bbq sauce, using ketchup instead.
It's pretty good. I swear we eat so many beans in our family (super cheap protein) we could be making a proft on natural gas LOL.

Cowboy beans. It really doesn't matter what beans you use since it's a combo and we can use tofu crumbles for the ground beef. I can also can it at bean times since there is no meat in it. It's one of those "little of this, little of that" recipe.

This was my Grandmas recipe and it is a favorite in my family.
YOUR BAKED BEANS
48 oz canned great norhern beans
1 1/2 lbs chop suey meat
salt/pepper
1 14oz bottle ketchup
3 TBL prepared mustard
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 large sweet onion minced
in 3 quart casserole combine and bake uncovered at 325* for 3 hours.
the liquid really reduces down on this and they are delicious!
For a variation I mix these up and put in the crock pot for 3 hours on high. The liquid will not reduce at all, so I cook up some pasta and throw it in at the last minute. Delicious!
