Slice it to 1/4" thick and pan fry it.
Add it to omelets
Spam salad for sandwiches

I usually use it for sandwhich meat, but I also love it cubed in macoroni salad. If anything else comes to mind I'll let you know.

I just checked out www.spam.com. They had more recipes than you could fit in a Buick. A few of them I'm definitely going to try. ;)

I use Spam or Treet or the generic store brand as a breakfast meat by pan frying it. I also like to pan fry it before using it on a sandwich. Many times you can use it in just about any recipe that calls for ham.

Thanks! :)
I like the ham replacement, ham here is so expensive! I can get a tin of Spam for 1.55 bucks.

My wife is from Okinawa, they're kinda big on SPAM, since the war anyway. She uses it in any recipe that you would use salty meat for, such as ham or bacon. I like it, but it does have to be cooked first, I have to be really hungry to eat it neat.

I like to slice it up. Pan fry it as other people do here, But I also open a can of pineapple. Dump some of the pineapple and a little juice in and let it cook down till the pinapple carmalizes and the juice thickens to a glaze. As the juice cooks down and thickens the aroma adds to the appetite. You can also add a pinch of brown-sugar and or ceyanne pepper to spice it up a bit.

I like to slice it thin and fry it up like you would livermush. Throw it on a biscuit with some fried eggs, and boom! Instant heart attack! ;D

I have a sign at my door that says "Anyone knowingly bringing Spam into this house will be shot, hung, drawn and quartered".
Nasty stuff. :P

:D lol
Thanks for the recipes!
Spam has went up here a dollar, it's about 4 us bucks per can. Ahh! I don't even think Finns eat the stuff so it's odd the price is so high.

I was just carping with Lindawoman about how the cost of "poor folks" meat has gone through the roof... Bologna, hot dogs and the like are higher than a lot of “whole” beef and pork cuts for instance! WT#O!!! How can meat made with the less desirable parts of the animal be sold at such ridiculous prices? I vividly remember when I was a kid that mom would take back a few pop bottles and get some boloney to see us through… Now days it feels like it would take a small loan to get the same coverage!

I agree, it's a bad sign when the cheap sources of protein go through the roof. I can't remember who said that, but they're right.
We have started to buy more things at a German store in Finland called Lidl. Even with the import fees, meat products are at least 50 cents cheaper at this store than regular Finnish markets.

I slice it up and panfry it like most and eat it in a sandwich.
I also like to dice up like half of the Spam(1/2 serves two unless you have a big appetite), panfry it and right before it is to your liking i take two eggs, beat them in a bowl and then pour it over the Spam and mix until eggs are done. Good with biscuits, bread or tortillas. You can sprinkle with cheese if you like. I like a side of Pork n' Beans with this dish. Its like a breakfast meal but then again I like breakfast anytime of the day.

This thread inspired me to order something "different" at a restaurant we visited this weekend for breakfast. I tried their grilled spam. ;-)
The Rusty Tractor is known for huge pancakes so I new about those but had no idea about the spam. It came - three pieces on my plate, an entire can divided into three! Well, it was so thick that the middle was lukewarm so wasn't very good at all. I boxed it for the dog. That night we give the dog the spam and he licks it and gives us the nastiest look! He finally downs it all and gets his revenge with the worst case of dog gas we've experienced in quite a while. ;-)
So whatever you do with spam - don't feed it to the dog unless you keep him outside!
