I believe I've noted an error in a well meaning sticky at the top of the page.

"And isn't that IGNORE button just the best thing since John Kerry invented the Internet?"

This , I believe, is in error since ,near as I can find it this was attributied to
Al Gore even tho Gore didn't say it either. To wit........
"It would hardly be unprecedented for the media to consistently call attention to the veracity of a political campaign. During the 2000 campaign, reporters and pundits delighted in pointing out examples of what they said were "exaggerations" by Vice President Al Gore. Unfortunately, these examples were often false-- contrary to more than a thousand media assertions, Gore never claimed to have "invented" the Internet, "

That said, it would be more fair to drop the negative referrence to any
politician to get folk's to use the ignore button.

Here is the interview that produced his comment.

But it will emerge from my dialogue with the American people. I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

IMHO...
Extreme malignant narcissist that he his, Al Gore, like a god, created the internet, he did not invent it like a mere mortal! LMAO

"I" is obviously the most important word in Al Gore's self-serving statement. :-X

"I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

Sorry, I suffer from extreme algoreaphobia! LOL

Invented...created...po-tay-to...po-tah-to

But since we strive for accuracy here...

BTW, why is it a "negative reference" to quote a politician, or anyone else for that matter, or reference what they said?

Or is it just some politicians we should not quote or reference?

Or did I misunderstand you?

My point is why risk creating what appears to be a slam at a Democrat then
no political reference is really necessary to accomplish your advice? To make
this reference from your level gives unwarranted crediblity that folk's
may take the wrong way.

As you know you are free to offer any view point you want to on a
personal but not at Admin level which is questionable IMO.

Isn't there enough friction already between liberials and conservatives
already? Civility & politics are a hard combo to keep on track as you
know so I am wondering if the political reference might be omitted to help
keep the peace.

Just a thought to damp the fires a little more...........

Perhaps you missed the fact that Kerry's gaffe has been fodder for comedians worldwide for many years.

I seriously doubt anyone but you saw it for anything but what it was - humor.

But if anyone did, get over it. I have it from good authority that's it's grin-worthy.
