View Full Version : Ametek DC motor

I came across an ametek 40V DC motor, was used as a tape drive. It does not say what the RPM's, Amps, etc. just gives volts on the case of the motor.

This motor starts to put out voltage as soon as I start to turn it by hand. I am assuming this motor is rated at very low RPM's.

I was wondering what is the potential current (amp)output of one of these motors used as a wind turbine.

Any help would be great as I do not own an ammeter nor can afford one at this time.

But if anyone knows how to build an Ammeter from scratch I do have components I have gleaned in the past.

I am new to all this electronics and wind turbine stuff and desiring to learn it all.

Thanks.

Idunno.. Mebby make a charger for some LED lawn lights. They don't produce much current to power anything big.

Gotta get them spinning at around 3-4 hundred R.P.M.'s to get stuff happinin'..
