Don't know what tonight's dinner is going to be as DD who cooks isn't home right now. Last night we had chili and cornbread. Think I'll call her and see if she'll bring home the fixings for chicken or beef veggie soup and more cornbread.

We're having lasagna, using those ready-to-bake lasagna noodles. I will have to see whether or not I like them as well. Has anyone got an opinion based on previous experience in using them?

I use these and love them. You should soak the noodles for about 15 min. in hot water first. Put some oil in the water and watch them because they WILL stick together. I just spray my pan with no stick cooking spray, put in a coating of sauce and make my lasanga.
no need to overlap the noodles more than 1/4 of an inch as the will grow. I really like these noodles as they seem to make a "neater" dish.

Thanks, fnfredux. Our lasagna turned out great. Since it's just the two of us these days, I used an 8x8" pan instead of the usual larger size baking dish. Even though I made less, we still have enough for tomorrow's lunch. ;)

Oh I miss my grandma's german food :'(

I boiled up my monster rooster the other night and we had creamed chicken on biscuits and peas. And tonight I will use the rest of him for chicken and noodles probably with mashed taters too. I don't usually fix dessert but these other posts are making me want some tonight :)

did you make it through the storm alright? How thick is the ice down your way?
I was expecting to wake up without power. Figured it would be a repeat of last year's storm. :( We still have power, but I don't think it is going to do any thawing before the next round hits tomorrow. I'm surprised my internet is still woking today. We are pretty much iced in for now.
DH will be going out in the semi again later today (gotta keep on rollen) , just a short trip to KC. I hope he makes it back before it starts to snow.

Stay warm :)

Not sure about the roads, we don't go out in this weather. We have about a 1/2" on the ground a lot due to the dan snow melting in the freezing rain. we had a bit of thunder last nite too, and the temp actually ROSE to about 34. Of course the ground was so intensely cold everything (the rain and thawing snow) froze on contact with the geound. Not much ice in the trees. Don't know how roads are as we are on gravel and there is ice on it. Nearest blacktop, a county road is about 2 miles. The roads were not cleared of Tuesdays snow til Wed afternoon. I'm hoping things (the ice) is cleared up on the county road and 190 before my husband needs to go to work on Monday... I can't remember such evil weather as we've had the last few years.

Dd cooked tonight.... beef roast with baked beans, turnip greens and salad. I worked 2-10, but came home at 5:30 to eat dinner with dh because he and dd were leaving before I got home for a long trip out to Ft. Riley, Kansas, to fetch 2nd son home for a few days of Christmas cheer. He joined the Army in May and will deploy next June. We crave as much time with him as we can get.
