I've used this machine for about a month now. The fresher your soybeans are, the better the milk. Boy, it's neat! Put in the water, add the soybeans and push the "2" button. Fifteen minutes later you have perfect soymilk for pennies.

That's pretty cool! I never really gave much thought to soy milk because I have never purchased or drank it. Does it taste pretty decent? Also, where do you get your soy beans from? That isn't a big crop up in my area.

You can get soybeans in 50 lb. bags at the feed store (what I did) but it will take sooooo long to use that much that toward the end of the bag, the soy milk is not that great. Sort of thin and gray. Tastes okay, but looks terrible. I now use soybeans purchased at the health food store in 1 lb. batches. Each batch of soy milk takes about 1/4 cup of raw beans per 1/2 gallon, so 1 lb. will last a month or more. You can taste the bean in straight soy milk so I add 3/4 to 1 tsp. of sugar per cup of milk. Tastes great. You can also use honey or other sweetener if sugar is not your first choice.
