My husband wanted ice cream cake for his birthday. DQ charges 18.95, Krogers was 22.95.

He's worth it of course, but i got the idea maybe it'd be possible to DIY and still make him happy.

Here's a link i found:

and it was SO easy and the nice thing is i substituted low carb, quality ice cream, so that it was healthier. Also, fat free whipped topping. So overall, it was a better cake...everyone said so, and it looked great, too.

Costwise, about 2.75 each for two cartons of Carb Smart ice cream, 2.50 for a package of double oreo cookies, 2.35 for blue icing decorations, 1.45 for decorating tips, and a couple dollars for nestle sprinkles. Almost 12.00 but, there's enough sprinkles for lots more cakes, enough oreos for one more cake, and i'll make the decorative icing myself next time and re-use the tips. What's REALLY sweet is the ability to tailor it to suit your own preferences... you can go fat free, carb free, yogurt, sherbet, whatever your doctor or your conscience says is best. Or what the heck, it's your birthday...just forget healthy and have your cake. But don't forget to DIY and save a few $.
