Big Berkey water filter - good or not?

I am looking for a good water purification/filter system and am about to buy a Big Berkey. Does anyone have experience with one of these? I notice that there are altrnative filter elements. Any opinion on the value of these?

I have one and LOVE it... it has four filters but i took two of them out... got me a 5 gallon bucket with a lid... a three gallon bucket with a lid and made a second one out of the two filters i took out... but imho they are worth every penny... if not more
