SOFTEN BUTTER. Need to soften frozen butter for a cake or cookie recipe? I put the butter in a zip-lock bag and put it into a bowl filled with room temperature water. In just five minutes the butter is nice and soft, but not melted.
NO-TEAR FOIL. When I need to line a pan with aluminum foil, I turn the pan over and mold the foil to the outside of the pan. The foil fits inside easily, and with no tearing.
QUICK SHRED. I like to poach and shred chicken for soups and tacos, but shredding chicken by hand is often time-consuming. One time I tried putting the pieces of poached chicken in the food processor with the plastic dough blade. It was shredded to perfection in no time at all!
FREEZER COOKIES. When I freeze cookie dough, I mold it into a long log shape, wrap it in plastic wrap, and then roll a piece of cardboard around it. The cardboard keeps the dough from freezing in the shape of the freezer shelf.
