help! quite awhile ago there was a post here to make wine using grape juice, cranberry juice, sugar and yeast. you put it all in a liter bottle with a balloon on top of the bottle. well, we drank the wine and it was great and i can not find the recipe again for it. any one that remembers it or if you were the one that posted it, please give it to me again- thank you sher

I dont know about the previous post on this, but I have done this several times. I just buy some of that 1oo% pastuerized juice , mix with 2 cups sugar in a 2-liter pop bottle.I make sure to fill the bottle almost all the way to exclude as much air as possible then add regular bread making yeast. Then slap a balloon on top and wait.I check the bottle occasionally and burp it. After about 2 weeks the fermentation has usually stopped and I siphon off the wine into a different 2-liter bottle and refigerate. It usually turns out a dry and very tasty wine.

Sher,

You can google "jug wine", "balloon wine", or "farmers wine" for many different recipes.

Have fun with it, it's far from complicated and perfect for a summer breeze on the deck or patio imo :)

I add just one package of bread yeast. To siphon it off get some of that transparent plastic tubing from lowes, the kind that looks like I.V. tubing, I use the 1/4 inch size .Set your bottle of finished wine up higher than your empty bottle you are siphoning it into stick the tube in the bottle, until you get the hang of it you might want to tape the tube to the bottle so it doesn't fall into the sediment and suck any of that up.Now suck the wine from the bottle while keeping the end lower than the end in the bottle when it starts flowing stick it into your empty bottle and gravity takes over. I tried the straining/ filtering thing the first time I made it too, you just cant keep it from getting cloudy that way.

Have fun.

balloon wine
the ing. are 2qt.grape juice,3 1/2 c. suger,2c. water,1 qt.craberry juice,1/2 tea. dry yeast.
mix in a milk or water jug. put the balloon on the top and tie w/ string let stand for 3-4 weeks.
a easy way to get the wine out is to get a clear pice of hose. and put it into the wine then put your thumb on the top of the hose and lift out the wine. use the bottom wine for cooking.
make it now for christmas :)
