Good Daughter, I am no longer using Windows. But, I know you can change it. Also, if you have Firefox, or Opera browser, you can maybe load the chat more easily... just a thought.

But on IE. If you are on Vista, I haven't a clue. The last Windows I used before switching to Linux was XP. So this applies to XP.

1. Click on "Tools"
2. Click on "Internet Options"
3. Click the "Security Tab"
4. Click "Custom Level"
5. Scroll down to "Download signed Active X Controls"
6. Click "Enable"
7. Scroll down to "Run Active X Controls and Plug-ins"
8. Click "Enable"
9. Scroll down to "Script Active X Controls marked safe for scripting"
10. Click "Enable"

Now scroll down to the sectionn that is titled "Scripting". There should be three selections there. Make sure each one is "Enabled". That should do it. Click ok all the way back out and try the chat again.

Good daughter I had the same issue and also set everything up as Paul said and still didnt work. Found my issue was because I do everything through aol. between its set up and virus controls it doesnt do well here. Friend also has same issue with yahoo. They have so many spammers come from those two i think there are some addition protocols . We both finally went and loaded up the mozzila firefox program and use it for bwh only and everything works right now. hope this helps.

Hi Matt...

Also, I will add that I never did like or use IE. Even when I was still using Windows, I always used Firefox.

So, if you can't get IE to do it, then you may consider downloading Mozilla Firefox to use. like Matt (MHinFox) says for just BWH.

I don't know what else it could be. Maybe someone else can give you the solution. Or maybe you could post a similar request under computers and get someone's attention. You would enjoy the chat. We have as many as 15 people in there nightly. Sometimes it is funny, sometimes, helpful, sometimes just joking aroud, but usually relaxed. I hope you can find a way to join us.

GoodDaughter,
I just had another idea. I don't know if it would matter or not, but if you have a firewall, that may be causing you a problem as well. Maybe you have a setting that could be adjusted to allow the Active X to download? But, I don't know.

Thanks Paul!!! I followed these directions and am able to get to the sign in screen for the chat room now. However, I can't (yet) get past the sign in screen.

Thank you for the detailed instructions!

B00kW0rm, You need to send a pm to admin asking to set you up. Users to the chat room have to be "set up with permisssion" before your login will work. Once that is done, you have to use the password that was originally sent to you for the forum.

Look forward to seeing you in the chat some evening or some morning.
