Howdy all:
I've just updated my website with information that you might find useful.
When I first moved into my ranchette in 2002, I upgraded my well water system to address several deficiencies, including limited capacity. I have now created a page on my site that explains how adding storage capacity can help lengthen the life of the well pump and potentially save you thousands over the long haul.
This link takes you directly to the page:
http://www.frugal-living-freedom.com/water-pressure-tank.html
In addition to helping preserve my submersible pump, I also modified the system configuration to have well water go through a screen and filter before it reached my double check valves and pressure tanks. This has eliminated check valve seat wear that was a problem for the previous owner.
It also keeps gunk out of the pressure tanks and extends the life of the particulate filter.
I hope this information is useful to those of us wrestling with similar problems.
