I keep thinking of building a wind turbine and keep rereading hugh piggot book and looking at sites like www.windstuffnow. Has anyone out there done any of this?

I've built several,
I have 3 axial flux turbines built from Hugh's plans.
In the past I also built some from the brake drum plans he used to sell.
Trouble is...the cost of materials....magnets and such as gotten so expensive recently that I'm not convinced that the axial flux is the way to go now...there's a lot of work involved.
I think that maybe altering GM alternators would be a more cost affective way to make a turbine....

Martin:
thanks for the link, I'll have to check it out. the cost is an issue, but I keep hearing the wind blowing out side. I cringe at the price of batteries and an inverter / charger.
